Getting wet in the wetland (PLE Day 4)

Rain. Lots of rain. Torrential rain. But this is a wetland ecology course, so it didn’t really matter.

The Pymatuning wetlanders spent the morning learning about wetland biogeochemistry….”microbes making a living.” After slowly climbing down the redox ladder, and becoming experts on nitrogen, sulfur, and carbon cycling in wetlands, we went to Hartstown Swamp and climbed through the swamp… collecting vegetation data for comparison with Pymatuning marsh. A wetter-than-usual day in the wetland.
